| EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES |
Coagulation abnormalities are often misinterpreted in liver disease patients but the underlying processes play an essential role in diverse aspects of acute and chronic liver failure. Hemostasis in this setting is altered by multiple pro- and anti-coagulant factors such that the net balance in a given patient is not well-reflected by current tests. This two day symposium is aimed at delineating the pathophysiology, clinical significance, limitations in clinical tests and optimal therapy of these problems. We hope to foster clinical research in order to translate advances in basic science into practical clinical applications to guide patient management. |
